Here I am offering a letter that was typed and signed on February 5th, 1908 by William Taft using a War Department letterhead. At the time, Taft was the Secretary for the United States Department of War, which was responsible
for the operation and maintenance of the United States Army. He later became the 27th President of the United States.
This letter was addressed to an F.W. Rollins who Taft acknowledges as "My dear Governor". Frank W. Rollins was an American lawyer, banker and republican politician from New Hampshire. He was the President of the New Hampshire Senate and the 47th Governor of New Hampshire.
So much history for a simple letter. We preserve this history.
