(1857-1930) Twenty-seventh President of the United States and Supreme Court Chief Justice.  Good content T.L.S. with holograph postscript as presidential candidate, 1p. 8vo., Cincinnati, Sep. 9, 1908 to his friend Albert H. Walker, who would later document Taft's administration.  In part: "...I have your letter with reference to the effect of the propositions of the Democratic platform in respect to trusts upon the development of patent devices...," In his postscript, Taft thanks the man for his suggestions. As President, Republican Taft continued and expanded his predecessor Theodore Roosevelt's efforts to break up trusts, launching cases against U.S. Steel and other companies.
