SIGNED 1984 Eleanor Roosevelt Centennial First Day of Issue Stamp Program FDR. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.This is the First Day of Issue ceremony program for the 1984 release of the Eleanor Roosevelt stamp, signed by 6 people, including 3 family members (all of whom are now deceased). The program has an area on the back that is blemished (see photos).
The 20-cent commemorative stamp honoring Eleanor Roosevelt was issued October 11, 1984, at Hyde Park, New York. The First Day Ceremony was held at Val-Kill, the home where Mrs. Roosevelt resided during the last years of her life.
Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, had a long and distinguished career of public service centering around the United Nations and human rights causes. During her husband's four terms in the White House, she became the country's most active first lady, fighting for measures to aid minorities and the underprivileged.

Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. (1914-1988) - a son of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. He was a lawyer, politician, and businessman. He served as a United States Congressman from New York from 1949 to 1955, and was the first chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 1965 to 1966.
James Roosevelt (1907-1991) - The oldest son of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt. He received the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Marine Corps officer during World War II. He served as an official Secretary to the President and in the United States House of Representatives. James Roosevelt was considered among his father's most important counselors. Time magazine suggested he might be considered "Assistant President of the United States".
Elliott Roosevelt (1910-1990) - a son of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. He was an author and an American aviation official and wartime officer in the United States Army Air Forces, reaching the rank of Brigadier General.
William F. Bolger (1923-1989) - the 65th Postmaster General of the United States from March 15, 1978 to January 1, 1985.
