    Description

    Schuyler Colfax as Vice President
(1832-1885)  Speaker of the House during the Civil War and Grant's vice president whose career was ruined by his involvement in the "Cedit Mobilier" scandal.
Portion of the front panel of an envelope from his office, 4" x 3.5", signed by Colfax as Vice President and addressed by him to Grant: "To the President  Executive Mansion". Very good.
