This is an ORIGINAL Document Signed (DS) by SAMUEL HUNTINGTON, One of the Declaration of Independence Signers, Governor of Connecticut during the Revolutionary War.

Served as a jurist, statesman, and Patriot in the American Revolution from Connecticut. As a delegate to the
Continental Congress
, he signed the
Declaration of Independence
and the Articles of Confederation. He also served as the President of the Continental Congress from 1779 to 1781, President of the United States in Congress Assembled in 1781, chief justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1784 to 1785, and the

from 1786 until his death.
This RARE presentation is professionally framed by Michael's. The matting is of acid-free archival museum-quality materials to last many lifetimes. The molding has a nice antique-like patina. Provided is a 6" x 6" engraved metal plate detailing his accomplishments. There is a black & white illustration of him from a painting provided and the document signed by Samuel Huntington. The document signed (DS) 1 page partly manuscript and partly printed document signed by former Declaration Signer Samuel Huntington  (1731-1796), then in the capacity as Governor of Connecticut, as "
Saml Huntington Governor
" near bottom right. Extensively docketed verso. Overall light toning, scattered edge chipping, and ink bleed-through along the left edge. Splits along fragile horizontal folds, else very good. 6.875" x 8.5". Pre-certified PSA/DNA. It measures 34" long x 14" wide.
The legal summons commanded Daniel Bissel of Lebanon, Connecticut to answer charges that he failed to pay twenty shillings to the "Estate of Hezekiah Williams late of Norwich deceased". The warrant also mentions two Norwich, Connecticut relatives of Samuel Huntington: Benjamin Huntington (his paternal uncle), then Justice of the Peace in New London County; and Joshua Huntington (unknown relationship), executor of the estate,  and plaintiff.
Samuel Huntington was a Connecticut delegate at the Continental Congress and later served as that body's president between 1779-1781.
