Swearingen was a famous Mid-Western socialite who was married to Standard Oil CEO John Swearingen, formerly the most powerful oil executive in the world.  She headed both charity and political fundraisers allowing her to befriend several U.S. Presidents, including Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush.  Swearingen raised millions of dollars for Nixon’s presidential campaigns and attended his inaugurations.
INSCRIBED TO THE FAMOUS SOCIALITE WHO WAS MARRIED TO STANDARD OIL CEO JOHN SWEARINGEN, THE MOST POWERFUL OIL EXECUTIVE IN THE WORLD
We were unable to locate another signed photograph of Nixon at his first inauguration available for sale at auction in the past 25 years making the present photo extremely rare and highly desirable.  The photograph shows U.S. representative Gerald R. Ford standing behind Nixon (his future vice president), nicely framed to an overall size of 12.25” by 10.25,” and in very fine condition with only minor fading to the photograph.
