    Description

    Rare book: OREGON SHORT LINE RAILROAD souvenir viewbook, issued by BARKALOW BROS. Railway News Agents, Omaha, Portland and Salt Lake City; no date but circa the 1890's-1910; softcover, bound with cord, 9x7 inches, illustrated throughout with a b&w illustration pasted to each page. It has 24 pages, but also has five pages that have been torn out. VERY RARE - I can't find a single other copy online, neither available for sale nor listed in 15 years worth of completed-auction listings. Images include Cape Horn, interior of Salmon Cannery, Baker Valley Wheat Harvesting/St Helens, Castle Rock/Rooster Peak, Lone Rock in Columbia River with steamboat and shack, The Needle (with train) at Columbia River, Gil Netting boats, Celilo Falls, Fish Wheel, The Dalles, Fort Walla Walla/Main Street/Courthouse, Oregon Goat Farm, town view of Pocatello Idaho, Ogden from Weber River with bridge and town, and more (the unmentioned ones are all landscapes, waterfalls, etc).
    Condition: Good+ (the paper cover has some heavy wear with edge tears and chips and large stain; the title was white but is also embossed; tears to spine and back cover; the first three pages have margin spot, some images have light tanning; engravings are sharp and clear).
