Framed Photo and Autograph of
President William Howard Taft
The only POTUS to become SCOTUS, William Howard Taft was unique in many ways. Did you know he began the well-honored tradition of throwing out the first ball when attending baseball games.
President Taft was the 27th president from 19
09 to 1913 and he was the 10th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1921-1930.
Visually, the autograph is bold and sharp and reflects its author's dynamic character. The photograph an strong signature was dated Feb 23 1929. It was been in our family for 50 years. It was matted and framed by Suder's Framer in Cincinnati Ohio with a wooden frame. The size of the framed photo and signature is really wonderful -- not too big -- just right to hang in your office or den. Specific measurements are as follows: The sight size of the signature window is 2 5/8" x 4 1/2" The sight size of the photo window is 6 1/8" x 4 1/4" The size of the frame is 16 1/2" x 1O 3/8".
If you are a history buff, or perhaps you know a presidential history buff this is will become a prized possession, to be shown off in an office setting -- what a conversation starter.
A study of Wm H Taft and his era is definitely a fascinating pursuit . This jovial looking president was actually highly intelligent and ushered in some important legislation. Not to mention this interesting relationship and falling out with Theodore Roosevelt. There are all kinds of colorful stories featuring his oversized bathtub and some that are probably urban legend.
It is a wonderful photo -- showing off his handlebar mustache and the typical collar and suit of the day. And you will love the signature! This is a piece of history
