This award demonstrates the tremendous sense of humor President Truman had. John Snyder was not only
the United States Treasurer but also a very close friend of the President who were friends for many
years.
My home has been often referred to as the West Coast Division of the Harry S Truman Library as I have spent
a lifetime collecting Harry Truman memorabilia. My father served and fought in the US Army for seven years under President Truman during World War II and beyond and tremendously admired Truman and always spoke so highly of him.
Truman, also an authentic World War I War Hero as a Captain in the US Army, was a tremendous leader and an extremely honest man. NOTE: Harry S Truman is the ONLY President to leave office with less monetary wealth than he had when he began his term as President. He was a tremendously generous man who always helped out a friend in need. Truman never had an abundance of wealth and never sought after monetary wealth. He truly lived within his salary and retired back to his small and humble home in Independence Missouri after his presidency.
Truman is also the last President who had only a High School Diploma. He never attended college.
I had the privilege of communicating and sharing my hand made self-produced custom framings of President Truman's Letters with his daughter Margaret up until her passing in 2008. Margaret was herself a very talented American classical soprano, journalist, actress, author and an all around truly wonderful lady.
