    signed by Texas Senator Lyndon B. Johnson
    . Addressed to Mr. Russell Birdwell, it notes "the proclamation of Alamo Day" and states "what you are doing will be appreciated deeply by every Texan and every American who is aware of the very unique significance of the story of the Alamo." Senator Johnson was chosen later in 1960 by John F. Kennedy to be the Democratic Party candidate for Vice President. He served in JFK's administration until the President's assassination when he was sworn in as President. He was elected in his own right in 1964.
