    Description

This is a 4" x 6" color autographed photo of and by Mr. FW DE Klerk, the former Chairman of the Foundation and the President of South Africa in Excellent Condition.  Also, includes a COA with a Lifetime money back guarantee for autograph authenticity.  Mr. Klerk was the 7th President of South Africa from 1989 to 1994.  There is a photo of Mr. Klerk on both sides with his autograph on the front side in black ink.  He was also the 1st Deputy President of South Africa from 1994 to 1996 with Mr. Nelson Mandela as President.  He was also the 7th President of the National Party from 1989 to 1997.  While initially, Mr. Klerk supported Apartheid activities and laws, he changed his mind and was instrumental in dismantling it.  He negotiated with Mr. Mandella and together, they worked to establish a transition to universal suffrage.  In 1993, Mr. Klerk publicly apologized for Apartheid and the suffering and harm it had caused many people.  Mr. Klerk personally oversaw the 1994 election to insure it was fair.  It resulted in Mr. Mandela being victorious and becoming the new President.  The National Party came in second and Mr. Klerk became Mr. Mandela's Deputy President.  In 1997, Mr. Klerk retired from politics.  Mr. Klerk's legacy was "controversial" among many segments of South Africa---many Blacks blamed him for continuing Apartheid for too long and not bringing enough of the past abusers to justice and many Whites blamed him for ending Apartheid which they had benefited from financially.  In spite of these criticisms, he was instrumental in ending Apartheid and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for dismantling Apartheid and bringing universal suffrage to South Africa.  Additionally, he set up his own foundation for expanding business and peace throughout the world.  In 2021, Mr. Klerk passed away from cancer.  The current President of South Africa called for 4 days of mourning and all flags flying at half-mast in his honor.   Estimated Market Value = 5.
