    Description

    DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER
.  Typed letter signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower with his initials, “D.E.,” as President treating himself to golf on the very day of his 68th birthday: “Thank you so much for the arrangement of lovely yellow roses and lavender chrysanthemums that I found awaiting me when I went home to luncheon today.  I am more than grateful for your thought of me.  I am, in truth, having a fine birthday anniversary.  I enjoyed the Republican breakfast this morning and I gave myself a present of a hurried round of golf.  And I am, of course, touched by the many kindnesses of friends such as yourselves.”
