    Description

    JOHN F. & JACQUELINE KENNEDY
.  Exceptional engraved color portrait entitled “Mill’s Colossal Equestrian Statue of General Andrew Jackson” signed and inscribed in blue ink on the mat by the First Lady to Joan Braden, “For Joan – with all our best wishes and appreciation and affection, Christmas 1963, Jackie,” and signed in blue ink by the President, “John Kennedy.”
EXCEPTIONAL CHRISTMAS 1963 WHITE HOUSE ENGRAVING GIFT SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY PRESIDENT JOHN F. AND FIRST LADY JACQUELINE KENNEDY TO A CLOSE FRIEND AND ADVISOR KNOWN FOR HER AFFAIRS
The engraving depicts Clark Mills’ 1853 statue of Andrew Jackson on horseback in Lafayette Square in front of the White House; inside a matting and frame chosen by Jacqueline to an overall size of 11.75 by 10.5 inches; in very good condition with minor foxing to the engraving, toning and slight dampstaining along the presentation matt, and the frame’s joints slightly beginning to separate; and accompanied with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA (Certification Number: AI02906), the world’s leading autograph authentication company.
AN EERILY POIGNANT CHRISTMAS PRESENT SIGNED BY JOHN F. KENNEDY SHORTLY BEFORE HIS ASSASSINATION AND GIFTED MORE THAN A MONTH AFTER HIS ASSASSINATION
Jacqueline created these gifts in small quantity, much more so than the official White House Christmas cards, to be presented to a few family members and close friends.  Between late October to early November 1963, Kennedy signed a handful of these shortly before the holidays and his tragic trip to Dallas, with Mrs. Kennedy taking time to add a message.  An eerily poignant Christmas present from JFK more than a month after his assassination.  Two of the similar 1963 White House Christmas cards recently sold for ,451 in November 2013 and ,088 in October 2013 at RR Auction.
ACCOMPANIED WITH A LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM PSA/DNA (CERTIFICATION NUMBER: AI02906), THE WORLD’S LEADING AUTOGRAPH AUTHENTICATION COMPANY
Joan Braden was an economic advisor and the personal secretary to Nelson Rockefeller who worked for the John F. and Robert F. Kennedy campaigns.  She is widely known for her rumored affairs as a confidante and aide to several Washington elites for more than three decades, including her documented romantic relationship with Defense Secretary Robert McNamara.  Barden’s memoir was pulled from publication over Jacqueline’s fears that some revelations would negatively impact the Kennedy family.  Mrs. Kennedy once said of Barden, “That little freckle-faced girl does everything and goes everywhere and Jack and Bobby are forever asking her opinion.”
