Andrew Jackson - Signed Four Language Whaling Ship's Paper(1767 - 1845) Seventh President of the United States, "Old Hickory" became a national hero in his defense of New Orleans and as president encouraged Western expansion and paid off the national debt.
Rare document signed as President, 1p. folio, 20" x 16", Washington, 1832, issued to Capt. Charles Butler of the whaling ship "Armata" sailing from New London to the 'Pacific Ocean and Elsewhere" with "Stores & necessary apparatus for a whaling voyage." Jackson pens a large, bold signature at center, counter-signed by Secretary of State EDWARD LIVINGSTON. The document has split into four pieces with some paper loss at margins and in interior, some splits repaired on verso behind signature, paper is brittle - overall in need of conservation. Due condition sold as-is but our signature guarantee remains in place. Reserved accordingly.
