    Description

This 88 page 6 by 71/2 inch paperback booklet was published by the Passenger Department of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1895. It's called "Tours to the Golden Gate by Superbly Appointed Trains Under the Personally-Conducted Tourist System. Round Trip Tickets Include Necessary Traveling Expenses". It details 2 tours with slightly different routes, from the East Coast to California.  For the first tour  all hotels, excursions and meals were included on the trip to and from California, with travelers responsible for their own itinerary and expenses while there. For the second tour, all expenses were covered and the itinerary was set.  On both tours  there was a chaperon for "the special regard for the welfare and comfort of the ladies". The booklet gives information on the trip with small black and white photos.  There's a map attached to the back cover with both routes shown.
The spine covering is damaged and back cover with map is apart from booklet. The covers are browned, and the flyleaf has some insect damage. Pages lightly toned.
