13th US PRESIDENT Millard Fillmore autograph, handwritten letter signed
Autograph letter signed, one page, 7,5 x 9,75 inch, West Point, 12.06.1849, to Lieutenant Baker - concerning his visit and the respect he has received, written and signed in dark ink "Millard Fillmore", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Fillmore seated in a chair (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with intersecting letter folds, and mild signs of wear to the horizontal edges (covered by the passepartout) - in nearly fine condition. In parts:"...a salute will be find in honor of my arrival at 9 o`clock. My visit here being entirely ac-cidental, I had no expectation of such an honor (...) thankful of such a mark of respect from the commandant of this fort, the cadets from which have covered our country with glory, and which has at all times received my cordial and efficient support. Please to make my respectful acknowledgements to Capt. Brennton ..."
